One of the evocative names of Cornish banding has been enjoying some well deserved success.
Coach house
Indian Queens (named after a local coach house — not an indigenous American Red Indian princess) is a small village south west of Bodmin, with a proud brass band history that dates back to 1856.
Over the years the band has gained success at local and regional events, but they enjoyed one of the best days ever in their recent history at the Cornwall BB Association Diamond Jubilee Championships in Truro.
Their twin performances of the hymn tune and a test piece saw the band take the honours in the Ungraded Section under MD Mark Arnold — to add more silverware to polish (above) following the entertainment and percussion awards won at the Exmouth Entertainment contest in September.
These two new trophies show the excellent progress we have been making under our MD Mark Arnold Band spokesperson
Excellent progress
A spokesperson told 4BR: "These two new trophies show the excellent progress we have been making under our MD Mark Arnold.
We have now been boosted further with the return of Tim and Emma Roberts on cornet, Joanna Gunningham on trombone and Caitlin Vercoe on euphonium.
We are now looking forward to the festive season and our concert their calendar is filling up fast too!"
