Elland Youth receive Euro invite

Elland Silver Youth Band will represent England at the 2016 European Youth Brass Band Championship in Lille.

Hot on the heels of their recent fine returns at the Rochdale Youth and Pogson Bray contests, Elland Youth Band has also announced that they have been invited to compete at the 2016 European Youth Championship in Lille next May.

The reigning Action Medical Research champion (above) has been invited to compete in the Development Section of the event, which forms part of the European Championship Festival.

Musical Director, Samantha Harrison told 4BR: "It is a fantastic honour for the band to be selected to represent the UK. We are all very excited and looking forward to making the trip."

Sam revealed that the hard work will now begin got raise the £10,000 required for the 45 strong band and their chaperone team to subsidise travel, accommodation and competition costs.
