New trio adds strength to Cross Keys

Three new signings have added extra strength to the ranks of the Cross Keys Band ahead of their Miners' Entertainment challenge.

With their appearance at the forthcoming South Wales Miners' Welfare Entertainment Contest on the horizon, Cross Keys Silver Band has announced the signing of a trio of new players.

Youth and experience

The experienced Wyn Howells comes in on the cornet bench after spells with RAF St Athan and Mid-Rhondda, whilst the percussion team is added to by the talented youngster Tomos Power.

In addition, Carys John moves to fill the vacant solo trombone slot from Rogerstone Band to join the team of Gavin Griffiths and Tim Pickles.

Delighted

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We are delighted with the quality these new arrivals add to the band, and we hope with our innovative and trailblazing set at the Miners' Contest, we can build on our recent podium place at the Welsh League contest in Merthyr Tydfil."
