The International Brass Band Summer School has returned to Swansea for its 25th Anniversary course.
The band, which this year boasts 120 musicians from as far as Australia, Japan, USA, nearly every European country and a few from the homeland of Wales, is enjoying an intensive week of rehearsal and plenty of fun under the baton of Black Dyke Director of Music, Prof Nicholas Childs and his team of tutors.
All over the world
He told 4BR: "It's always great to return to Swansea and meet up with so many wonderful musicians from all over the banding world. It really is a unique course.
We have players from many of the world's leading brass bands rubbing shoulders with players from parts of the world where their brass band culture is still developing."
World class tutors
He added: "Everyone benefits from world class tuition from a team that includes the likes of Richard Marshall, Gary Curtin, David Thornton, Owen Farr, Brett Baker, Chris Turner and Joseph Cook, and this year they will also enjoy the opportunity to work with composer Peter Graham.
Peter brings a wealth of experience from many genres of music and his attendance and presentations are eagerly awaited by all the delegates. He will also make an appearance on the conducting podium at the end of course concert."
This year's course will be rounded off with the traditional free concert at Swansea University, Singleton Campus, Fulton House on Friday 7th August — starting at 7.00pm4BR
