The Poulton-le-Fylde Band has made their commitment to promoting new repertoire for the brass band genre by commissioning a number of works.
The band, led by conductor by Dave Collins, is celebrating its 140th anniversary this year and has a rich heritage linked to its local community.
New works
Over the summer the band regularly performs at many gala events in the Fylde area and has therefore as commissioned a street march entitled, 'Onwards' from composer Lewis Wilkinson.
Lewis is currently reading music at the University of Durham, with his bright and breezy march already proving popular with players and listeners alike.
In addition, the award winning Paul McGhee has been commissioned to write a substantial work based upon a mythical story, whilst the talented young composer Daniel Hall, who recently worked with Tredegar Band, has also been asked to write a concert 'opener'.
