New leadership at Leopard Coachlines Canterbury Brass

New Zealand top flight contenders announce the appointment of their new MD.

Canterbury Brass

Leopard Coachlines Canterbury Brass have received a belated Christmas present with news that the highly respected New Zealand conductor and composer Dwayne Bloomfield has accepted their invitation to become MD of the band.

Arranging and composing

Dwayne was an important member of the New Zealand Army Band for 26 years, holding many leading positions including that of Bandmaster, and has also developed an interest in arranging and composing, with his works becoming increasingly popular.

An interest in New Zealand’s military history inspired him to compose ‘Behold the Narrows from the Hill’ based on the battle of Chunuk Bair in Gallipoli, ‘Passchendaele October 12th 1917’, ‘Lone Pine’ for the National Australian Band, and the ‘Battle of Gate Pa’.

His most recent composition was ‘7.1’, as a mark of remembrance of the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes.
