Verwood celebrate Championship title success

Verwood Concert Brass round off their season with a Championship winning success at Torquay.

Verwood Concert Brass recently rounded off their 2014 contesting year by winning the 68th Annual Championships of the South West Brass Band Association in Torquay.

The band travelled the 100 miles down to the Riviera Centre to take part in the 'Open Section' and came away as newly crowned champions thanks to a thrilling performance of their own choice test piece selection, 'Spectrum' by Gilbert Vintner.

Great achievement

Band chairman Helen Dunnings told 4BR: "This is a great achievement for the band. We have been putting in some consistently good contest performances but have just missed out on winning some silverware.
