Coffee, cakes and cornets at Lofthouse cafe

There is the opportunity to enjoy some food, drink and brass band music making at Lofthouse this month — and you can take something home too if you feel like it...

Music cafe

The Lofthouse 2000 Band will be opening the doors to their fantastic Music Café on Saturday 22nd November between 10.00am and noon, for their annual open day.

Whether you are aged 7 or 70, an accomplished player or brand new beginner, you are invited along for a biscuit and a brew, to meet new friends and to hopefully reignite your passion from brass bands – with an instrument thrown in for good measure!

Never too young or old

Band Chairman, Derek Walker told 4BR: "You’re never too young or old to start playing a brass instrument.

I would say – just do it! At the age of 50 I did and I’m so glad. You meet so many great people in the brass band world and have a tremendous amount of fun along the way. I hope lots of people pop along and see for themselves."

Open for business

The Music Café will start at 10.00am at Outwood Working Men’s Club in Wakefield with Lofthouse 2000 Band, Lofthouse B Band and also Lofthouse C Band (the beginner band) performing.

Players will be giving demonstrations of their instruments throughout the morning accompanied by tea, coffee and cakes!

The band can even provide an instrument to take home and start playing on!
