Coalburn Silver Band recently enjoyed the chance of playing for the arrival of the Queen’s Baton in East Kilbride as it continues to make its trip around Scotland ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next month.

Conducted by Anne Crookston, the band performed to thousands of supporters and well wishers at Calderglen Park, featuring music from around the Commonwealth.

Prestigious

Band President Alan Court told 4BR: "This is one of the most prestigious events that the band has played at for many years, and the reception from the large crowds was absolutely fabulous."

Alan continued: "The band members were thrilled when Clyde (above), the Commonwealth Games mascot took his turn in conducting the band!"
