Gwent youngsters ready for festival appearances

The talented young players of the Greater Gwent Youth Band are getting ready for some high profile appearances.

Symphony Hall
 

Following their prize winning performance at the recent National Youth Championships in Manchester, the Greater Gwent Youth Band has since been invited to perform at the National Festival of Music for Youth at Symphony Hall, Birmingham on July 11th.

Regulars

The band has been fortunate to make regular appearances at the prestigious festival since 1992 and this year will be conducted by MD Chris Turner.

The young player will also join their counterparts in the Greater Gwent Youth Symphonic Winds, Greater Gwent Tuba Ensemble (Tuba Euphoria!), Caerleon School Wind Band, Caerleon School Orchestra, Greater Gwent Youth Jazz Orchestra, Monmouthshire Symphonic Winds and the Greater Gwent Youth Orchestra during the festival.

Eleven of the band’s players have also been busy recently with performances with the famous Only Boys Aloud choir.

The band has been fortunate to make regular appearances at the prestigious festival since 1992 and this year will be conducted by MD Chris Turner4BR

Open champions

In July the band, conducted by Alun F Williams will also be performing at the Greater Gwent Music Service’s Summer Showcase at St David’s Hall, whilst they will also be performing alongside current British Open champion, Tredegar at the Riverfront Theatre in Newport on July 13th.
