The City of Chester Band recently made awards to members in recognition of their long term contribution to the band.
Memory
The Didier Chupeau Bandsman’s Award, given in memory of a much missed former player was voted for by senior band members and fittingly, the first recipient was Julian Ablett.
A spokesperson told 4BR: "As Band Secretary over the last four years, Julian has worked hard to improve the organisation’s financial position without unduly increasing member’s time commitment, as well as continuing to perform an important role as a player within the band."
The award was presented by Nerys Jones, who was Didier’s partner until his tragic death last year.

MD Award
Meanwhile, the first recipient of the Musical Director’s Award was Daniel Peover, aged 12.
Malcolm noted Daniel’s outstanding enthusiasm and the improvement in his playing since joining the senior band a year ago.
