Brass Bands on Music Matters today

Some tasty mid day brass band listening on Radio 3 today with a feature on brass banding on Music Matters.

You can get your fill of brass bands every 12 hours on the BBC at the moment – with a feature about the National Championship of Great Britain and contesting in general on the Music Matters programme on BBC Radio 3.

Albert Hall

Presenter Tom Service Tom talks about the history of test pieces with the composer Edward Gregson, whilst conductor and presenter Frank Renton (who is on around the midnight hour nowadays on Listen to the Band on a Thursday night) gives his views about the health of competitions and he also hears from the some of the players themselves.

The programme also includes a featured radio blog from Hannah Drage, solo horn with British Open champion Tredegar as they prepared to win the title.
