Smallwood takes MD role at Dunchurch

The experienced Gary Smallwood is the new MD at Dunchurch Brass.

District of Dunchurch Brass has announced the appointment of their new MD, Gary Smallwood.

Experience

A former trombone player with Royal Buckley Town, Markham Main Colliery he also conducted Dunchurch Silver Band who he led with great success.

He has also been MD of Bulkington Silver, who in just five years he took from Fourth to Championships Section and Bedworth Brass.

Since his retirement as a Head Teacher Gary has once again taken up the baton with District of Dunchurch Brass as well as on a freelance basis with Avonbank (Evesham) and Cubbington Silver.

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "We would like to thank Helga Perry for all her dedicated hard work over the last two years, over which we have seen the band grow in numbers.

Helga has now decided to step down due to work commitments and she will now be taking a playing role with us."

They added: "We are very much looking forward to working with Gary, and to the future."
