Twelve members of the City of Chester Training Band recently took part in their annual Aldford solo competition, performing before a panel of adjudicators and a host of relatives, friends and members of the main band.
Analysing their performances were Stephanie Conway, Malcolm Peach and Philip Mottershead.
Prize winners
After hearing all twelve performances the adjudicators withdrew to consider who should be the recipient of the Margaret Blythin Memorial Shield. Whilst they were deliberating, the Training Band gave a short concert under the direction of conductor, Matthew Birkett.

On their return their offered constructive comments to help the competitors improve, before announcing that Theo Clement, aged 10, was the overall winner for his fantastic performance of the theme from ‘Superman’.
