Composer Peter Meechan has given his personal support to the forthcoming ‘3 Peaks 3 Pieces’ Band by writing a new piece for them to play in a fund raising concert the evening before they embark on their epic mountain assault.
Rise
'Rise' will receive its premier less than 24 hours before the 30 musicians take on the huge physical challenge, in a joint event with the talented young players of St Helens Youth Band led by Anna Hughes-Williams.
Grateful
Band spokesman Steve March told 4BR: "We are really grateful to Pete for this contribution to the cause and it promises to be a great night. Having St Helens Youth involved gives us the chance to celebrate what we can achieve together.
We've passed £7,000 in sponsorship so the final push for the £10,000 target is really on as we look to inspire some young musicians as part of the project."
Concert performance
The free pre-climb concert takes place at 7.30pm on Friday 23rd August at St Thomas Church, Ashton in Makerfield, WN4 9PL.

MS Society support
Steve added: "Please come along and support the MS Society. It’s free to attend and we would love to see a full house to wave us off. There will be a collection although we won’t be carrying the proceeds with us up the mountains!"
The last leg of the climb will see the 30 musicians top out at Snowdon on Sunday.
