Verwood Concert Brass has helped raise funds for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer by taking inspiration from the girls of ‘Boobs & Brass’.
Blushing Brass
The female members of their Senior, Concert and Training bands recently came together to perform the ‘Blushing Brass’ concert which raised over £1600 for the charity and included a new work entitled, ‘Easy on the Eye, Easy on the Ear’, donated by Derek Broadbent for the event.
Inspired
Jan Tiller, a long time member of Verwood Concert Brass mastermind the occasion and told 4BR: "I was inspired by the wonderful ladies of Boobs & Brass, which got me thinking to how the girls of our Training, Concert and Senior bands could try something similar to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and band funds."
The ladies certainly enjoyed themselves, with a full programme of intense rehearsals intermingled with regular visits to enjoy rest and recuperation through reflexology, nail treatments and massage sessions, all given to help in the fund raising process.
The concert audience were treated to a wonderful programme with the band and venue bedecked in pink.
The great thing is that as well as raising a fantastic amount everyone involved said just how much fun it wasJan Tiller
Fantastic
Jan concluded: "I was really nervous about whether it would be a success, but everyone has been so helpful and the event was generously supported by local businesses and individuals through donation of raffle prizes and sponsorship of music and tables.
The great thing is that as well as raising a fantastic amount everyone involved said just how much fun it was."
