BBC Radio 3 is to broadcast highlights of Black Dyke and Foden's RNCM Festival of Brass concerts.
The concerts recorded at the RNCM in January will form part of the station's celebration of British Music during June and will be featured on the popular 'Afternoon on 3' programme, between 2.00pm — 4.30pm.
National showcase
On Monday 17th June, listeners will be able to hear a reprise of the National Finals test piece that secured Foden's 'The Double' as Michael Fowles conducts Howard Snell's arrangement of Ravel's 'Daphnes et Chloe'.
This will be followed by Dr Nicholas Childs conducting the English National Champion, Black Dyke in the world premiere of Prof Edward Gregson's 'Of Distant Memories' (Music in an Olden Style) which was subsequently chosen as the test piece for Albert Hall event in October.
Fletcher, Graham, Britten
Later in the week, Black Dyke will be featured playing Percy Fletcher's 'Labour & Love', along with the first performances of Peter Graham's 'Radio City for Trombone, Narrator and Band' with Brett Baker as soloist.
Russell Gray leads Foden's in Paul Hindmarsh's arrangement of Britten's 'Occasional Overture'.
