McCann and Jeans to receive Worshipful Medals

Phillip McCann and Chirs Jeans willreceive the Iles and Mortimer Medals this year.

Two of the brass band movement’s finest performers will be the deserved recipients of this year’s Worshipful Company of Musician Awards.

Legend

Legendary former Black Dyke principal cornet and MD of Yorkshire champions Carlton Main Frickley Colliery, Phillip McCann will be presented with the Iles Medal for services to brass bands.

Inspirational

Meanwhile, the inspirational Chris Jeans, solo trombonist of the Virtuosi GUS Band and MD of the highly successful Youth Brass 200 will be the recipient of the Mortimer Medal for his services to brass education.

The awards will be made at the conclusion of the British Open Championships at Symphony Hall in Birmingham on 7th September4BR
