The long term investment in the Academy Section of the Lanner & District Silver Band continues to bear fruit, with the news that 9 year old principal cornet Siana Rouse (above) was recently awarded her Associated Board of the Royal School of Music Grade 4, with distinction.
Celebration
Siana is tutored by the band’s MD, Stuart Chappel, and there was double celebration to enjoy as he finally claimed his Grade 8 certificate 30 years after he last took the Associated Board exams.
Stuart told 4BR: "We have a strong belief at Lanner in developing the next generation of players. Siana’s success is positive proof that the strategy we have in place is working very well indeed. At just nine years of age she is certainly one to watch out for in the future."
Delighted
Siana’s proud father added: "I’m delighted about both Siana’s and Stuart’s success.
Together with the rest of the Lanner Academy, the building blocks for the long term future of brass banding in this part of Cornwall are being put very firmly in place."
