The Llwydcoed Band has announced a number of key signings in the run up to the Welsh Regional Championship in Swansea in March.
Experienced
Julie Rooke and Dean Davies come in on second cornet, whilst Ross Dunne joins on solo horn. The vastly experienced Darren Morris takes over the solo euphonium seat, whilst his great friend John Jones moves onto solo baritone.
Another player with vast banding experience in Barry John comes in on bass trombone with Mark Wilkes moving to second trombone, allowing Janine Brill to move to the percussion section.
Fantastic
Chairman Kevin Johnson told 4BR: "It’s always fantastic to welcome new players to the band. The players that have signed up are all highly talented musicians and between them have a huge wealth of experience with the likes of Cory, Tredegar and Parc and Dare."

New President
The band has also announced the appointment of a new Band President.
Christine Chapman AM, Welsh Assembly Member for the Cynon Valley told 4BR: "I’m delighted to accept the role. As the last surviving brass band in the Cynon Valley, we must keep the tradition alive. I am keen to work with the members to help promote this activity which has great benefits for the community."
She added: "Wales and in particular the South Wales valleys has a rich musical history and it is important that the arts play an important role. I really enjoyed the rehearsal I came to and look forward to hearing the band play again in the future."
Thrilled
Kevin Johnson added: "I’m thrilled that Christine has accepted our invitation. She is a keen supporter of the band and takes an interest in the band’s activities.
When electing a new President, it was a very easy decision to make and I very much look forward to working with her over the coming years"
