Venezuela is getting ready to celebrate the 38th anniversary of their world famous ‘El Sistema’ music education project – with brass ensembles playing a central role in the festivities.
Heard
Brass ensemble performances will be heard in a variety of community locations, public squares and cultural centers throughout the country this month to initiate the next step in the development of the National System of Brass Ensembles Academic Program (SINEM).
More than seven hundred musicians will perform works by a wide range of compositions from European and Venezuelan composers – many of whom were initially taught music through ‘El Sistema’.
National standard
The National System of Brass Ensembles was created ten years ago with a mission is to create a national standard including repertoire, technique and musicianship through a sequenced curriculum.
Presently there are sixty ensembles following this progressive national standard in order to ensure appropriate development level and assessment.
