The combined forces of players and supporters of the Coalburn Silver and Bronze Bands came together on the weekend to celebrate their 2012 achievements.
Over 100 people
Over 100 people filled the Blackwood Victoria Bowling Club for their 4th annual Awards Night, with special guest, Kenny Crookston, Editor of British Bandsman magazine.
Following the buffet, the first of the awards focussed on the Bronze Band, where Musical Director Jayne Brownlie was on hand to announce the ‘Best Section’ as the trombones of Robyn Anderson, Anna Biggart, Adam Brown, Rebecca Brownlie, Adam Cowan, Poppy Gough, Nadia Keteb, Rachael Ramsay, Ben Strang and Morag Anderson.
Awards
The ‘Band Person of the Year’ went to Gordon Millar who works with the new starters in the band, whilst the ‘Most Improved Player’ went to tuba player, Euan Court, who only started playing a year ago.
The Silver Band awards were presented by MD Gareth Bowman, with the ‘Best Section’ also going to the trombones of Ronnie Kenmuir, Jayne Brownlie and Kyle MacCorquodale.
The Player of the Year for 2012 was won by the band’s outstanding flugel horn player, Trevor Gray, who has won a series of awards throughout the contesting year4BR
Conductor's Award
The 'Conductors Award' for the most improved player went to solo cornet player, Ali McCorkell whilst the 'Bandperson of the Year', went to the Secretary and Treasurer, Daniel Beadle.
The ‘Player of the Year’ for 2012 was won by the band’s outstanding flugel horn player, Trevor Gray, who has won a series of awards throughout the contesting year.
