The benefit of players investing in Sterling Instruments leapt in value following Foden’s victory at the British Open Championship in Birmingham on the weekend.
Virtuoso
Not only did the band’s star euphonium player Glyn Williams once again show his class by picking up the Geoffrey Whitham Award as the ‘Best Euphonium’ at the contest – but he did so by doing it on a Sterling Virtuoso euphonium.
In addition, the band’s victory on Martin Ellerby’s test piece ‘Electra’ was claimed by the full euphonium, baritone and horn sections playing on the latest top of the range Sterling instruments, whilst soprano player Richard Poole also added his touch of class to the victory performing on the Sterling soprano cornet.

Proud
Sterling’s MD Paul Riggett told 4BR: "We are immensely proud to have played a small part in enabling Foden’s to win the British Open. World class players require world class instruments, and that is what we have provided for Glyn and the band."
He added: "The Sterling range offers huge flexibility to individual performers such as Glyn Williams, but also gives whole sections of the band a perfect balance of sound quality too. I think it shows that to be the best, you have to play on the best."
