Kingdom Brass continued on its fine run of form at the Fife Charities Contest on the weekend.
Fine rendition
Conducted by Andy Duncan they retained their title with a fine rendition of their own choice test piece selection, ‘Partita’ by Philip Sparke to pip rivals Bon Accord into second place with Johnstone in third.
Kingdom’s principal cornet player Harmen Vanhoorne took the ‘Best Cornet’ prize, whilst the victory also saw the band retain their ‘Best Fife Band’ title.
Section awards
Bon Accord’s solid performance of ‘Montage’ proved good enough to just edge out Johnstone’s rendition of ‘Blitz’ in the scrap for the podium places, although Paul Kiernan’s band did pick up the ‘Best First Section Band’ award.
Other section awards went to Tullis Russell Mills, Dunfermline and Queensferry.
