Welsh ready for Miner's entertainment

There is plenty of entertainment on offer in Porthcawl this Saturday.

The inaugural South Wales Miners Entertainment Contest will take place at the Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl this Saturday.

The contest is open to bands from coal mining communities graded in the Second, Third and Fourth Sections nationally, who will compete for the £600 first prize and the magnificent South Wales Miners Eisteddfod Challenge Cup, valued at over £6,000.

12 bands have entered from Ammanford, Blaenavon Town, Briton Ferry, Crosskeys, Gwaun Cae Gurwen, Lewis Merthyr, Oakdale, Ogmore Valley, RAF St. Athan Vol, Treherbert, Ynyshir and Ystradgynlais.

Contest

The contest commences at 12 noon with a comfort break after band 6. The adjudicator is Melvin White.
