4BR has been informed that one of the most respected cornet players in the business has decided to call it a day with Black Dyke.
Nine years
Morvern Sinclair has decided to call time after nine years with the Queensbury band.
Regarded as one of the finest ‘bumper ups’ in the business, Morvern spent nearly a decade at Black Dyke following her move from Foden’s and has earned a remarkable reputation as being one of the best cornet players of her generation.
Cornerstone
A remarkably consistent, flexible and musical performer, she provided Dyke a cornerstone of excellence as both a section player and when called upon to take over the end chair.
I've had a fantastic time at Black Dyke and have made so many great friends over the years. I'd like to wish the band every success in the futureMorvern Sinclair
Thanks
Talking to 4BR, Black Dyke’s MD, Dr Nicholas Childs said: "Everyone associated with Black Dyke would like to thank Morvern for her great service to the band."
He added: "Movern has been a quite terrific player and I was saddened when, after nine years of service, she decided to call time on her playing at Dyke. Morvern has contributed so much to the many contests success of the past decade and is such wonderful and caring lady. I wish her well."
Married
Morvern recently married Black Dyke’s long serving Bb tuba player Danny Sinclair, and is now looking forward to having more time to explore other interests.
Such is her commitment to whatever task she sets herself that this weekend she will taking part in the Mull of Kintyre 10k run to raise funds for the Kintyre Songwriters Festival.
Fantastic time
Morvern told 4BR: "I've had a fantastic time at Black Dyke and have made so many great friends over the years. I'd like to wish the band every success in the future."
The position of Assistant Principal Cornet has been taken by Alex Kerwin.
