Eccles extra ingredients

Three new players have been added to the Eccles Borough ranks in time for 125th celebrations.

Eccles

The Eccles Band has welcomed a trio of new signings in time to help them with their 125th anniversary celebrations.

Delighted

Baritone player Marianne Garbutt, soprano star Ian Twiss and cornetist Deborah Fry all join with immediate effect – something MD Marieka Gray told 4BR that she was delighted about.

High class trio

"They are a trio of high class players, each plenty of top flight experience and bags of talent," she told 4BR. "I’m delighted to welcome all three to what is a busy and ambitious band."

Signings

Marianne signed after playing solo baritone with Wire Brass, whilst the highly respected soprano player Ian Twiss has many years experience at Championship Section level with a number of top flight bands in the North West and beyond.

Meanwhile, Deborah comes to the band after a period playing in North Wales with Northop Band.

Ambitious

Marieka added: "It’s Eccles 125th anniversary this year and the addition of these players will enable us to undertake our ambitious celebration plans which include a CD special recording with a real sense of confidence."
