Stan Lippeatt, Chairman of the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators, conductor, flugel soloist and budding Michael Parkinson, will be meeting up with a trio of trombonists at Skegness this year as he once more hosts his popular ‘Stan Lippeatt & Friends’ chat show evening of entertainment.
Popular chat show
Over the last few years the informal pre contest ‘chat show’ has been a great hit, and this Friday evening, three talented trombonists will join him to chat and play.
The show starts at 8.00pm at the Centre Stage venue and will feature Stephen Sykes, Alan Fernie and Rick Mizell – and Stan is already looking forward to the prospect of finding out more about them as well as hearing them play.

Mark
"All three have made their mark in the music world – from Stephen’s brilliant solo playing, to Alan’s wonderful compositions and arrangements and Rick’s quite amazing musical career in the USA," Stan told 4BR.
Stephen Sykes is regarded as one of the banding world’s brightest young talents, winning the BBC Young Brass Soloist title and picking up individual awards at the major brass band contests, whilst Alan Fernie’s reputation as one of the leading brass band composers and arrangers of his generation is also well known.
World class skills
And although people may not be that familiar with the name of Rick Mizell, thousands upon thousands would have heard his particular world class skill each year – as the American has played with the world famous Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and is assistant conductor of the Magic Kingdom's Walt Disney World Band, in Florida, as well as being a member of US Open champion Brass Band of Central Florida.
Inspiration
"I think the audience will enjoy hearing just what inspires them as performers and musicians and I’m sure they will enjoy their playing – especially as we have been able to line up a one off trombone trio, with the house band to round off the evening," Stan added.
"It should be a great relaxing way to start off the weekend."
