After a gruelling seven week solo tour of Australasia, Brett Baker has returned to the UK in time to perform a series of Christmas concerts with Black Dyke.
Fabulous
Brett told 4BR: “I have never toured anywhere for such a long time as a soloist. I was not sure if I would get through seven weeks of intense music making which included 17 concerts, 10 workshops, and countless lessons. It’s been a fabulous experience meeting old friends and making new ones and I plan to return to undertake two smaller tours in August and October next year as the feedback has been excellent!”
Home comforts
The star trombonist is however looking forward to some home comforts: "I’ve missed family life and playing in Black Dyke, so I’m looking forward to playing in the forthcoming Christmas concerts," he said.

Up to speed
"Nick Childs has been really understanding in allowing me to do this tour and has regularly kept me up to speed with developments taking place in Queensbury. I’m really grateful to my co-principal at Dyke, Paul Woodward for doing such a fantastic job in the solo trombone chair whilst I have been away."
