Results: 2010 Scottish Borders BBA Contest

Tullis Russell Mills comes out on top at Innerleithen.

Tullis Russell Mills Band from Fife, lifted the Scottish Borders Trophy and the £150 first prize for the first time at the Borders Entertainment Contest held in Innerleithen’s Memorial Hall at the weekend.

Impressed

The Second Section outfit conducted by Martyn Ramsey impressed music adjudicators John Hinckley and Charles Keenan to see them again a narrow one-point victory over rivals Croy Parish with Jedforest Instrumental in third.

The entertainment judge, Peter Fraser MBE, gave the entertainment prize to St. Ronan’s Silver Band, making this the sixth time that the Innerleithen Band has won the Queen’s Head Inn Shield.

Awards

The soprano player with Croy won the 'Best Soloist' prize, whilst the 'Best Instrumentalist' award went to the tuba player with Tullis.

Jedforest Instrumental was the highest placed Borders band on the day, whilst in the Development Section, St. Ronan’s Future Band came out on top once again, with Langholm Junior Band winning the new Novice Section, which was adjudicated by Alison Hall.
