Morgan Griffiths, conductor of Hammonds Saltaire Band, has begun a new era in Bradford by the creation of the Bradford Junior Brass Ensemble.

New initiative

In his role as peripatetic music teacher for Bradford Music and Arts Service, Morgan is leading the new initiative aimed at children aged between 7 – 19. It is hoped that it will provide a new generation of brass players with the ideal opportunity in the Bradford area to play in an engaging and exciting new musical genre.

Great opportunity

Morgan told 4BR: "This is a great opportunity for all young brass players in the area. We had our first rehearsal last Monday which was a great success, and I’m really looking forward working with as many young brass players as possible in this new and exciting ensemble."

It is open to players aged 7- 19 who have played a brass instrument for over 6 month’s.

Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 4.30 at the Beckfoot School in Bingley.
