Although it has been a slightly quiet on the contesting front of late, there has been a little bit of movement on the 2010 4BR Money List – especially after Reg Vardy enjoyed a big old payout in Durham thanks to their win at the inaugural Doctor Martin Entertainment Contest.
Making the most
With a prize fund of over £7,000, the only disappointment was that there were only four entrants for the contest, but despite the lack of numbers the North East Regional Champions made the most of the opportunity and bagged close to £4,500 for their efforts, to push themselves into 11th place in the current table.
Second placed Pemberton Old Wigan DW, also enter the top 20 for the first time after picking up over £2,000, and now sit pretty at 15th.

20/20
Elsewhere the busy 20/20 March & Hymn tune contest season was in full swing at Hebden Bridge, Old Silkstone and Brighouse, whilst the excellently run Kiveton Brass Festival also provided a sustainable source of income for Crofton Silver and GT Group Peterlee pocked a nice wad of cash at the Durham Brass Band Association contest.
Make their mark
With other smaller contests and the National Eisteddfod of Wales to come over the next month before the big paydays at the British Open and the second half of the contest year, there is still time for bands to make their mark.
If you think your band should appear in the 4BR Money List please let us know your winnings for the year.
