Doctors orders for Dr Roy

Dr Roy Newsome is currently in hospital, but will soon be back on his feet.

Dr Roy Newsome is currently in hospital after being admitted on the weekend.

Winning conductor

The former multiple British Open and National Championship winning conductor was admitted to Fairfield Hospital in Bury after feeling unwell at the end of the week.

Alan Wycherley, a close friend of the family, has spoken Dr Roy, and told 4BR that he is already making plans to get back into action as soon as the medical doctors, who are taking excellent care of him, give him the all clear.

Tests

"Roy was admitted on Friday," Alan said. "He wasn’t feeling too well, but he’s undergoing some precautionary tests and it’s hoped he will be back out and home with Muriel in the next few days."

Wonderful response

After the wonderful response he received from all round the banding world in celebration of his recent 80th birthday, Alan also revealed that the desire to thank everyone who contacted him and Muriel is already on his ‘to do’ list.

Paper work

"He told me that he needs to get home as the paper work is building up," Alan joked. "There was such a wonderful response to his 80th birthday that he wants make sure he thanks everyone who sent their best wishes."

And Alan is sure Dr Newsome will be back at work as soon as possible.

Busy as ever

"Muriel will make sure he gets the very best of care, before she lets him out of her sight – that’s for certain," Alan joked, before adding: "They also know that everyone is thinking of them too, so after a bit of peace and quiet, I’m sure they will be as busy as ever."
