Besson has announced a major new initiative to help bands.

Advisory service

The Besson & Antoine Courtois Band Advisory Service, will offer advice and help in relation to funding issues by working in collaboration with individual bands as well as brass band associations.

Proactive

The proactive initiative comes at a time when accessing funding in its many varied guises is becoming an ever more essential part of any band’s long term financial as well as artistic planning.

We are there is offer our expertise in a proactive manner, so we will be delighted to help as many people as we canLyndon Chapman

Effective techniques

Lyndon Chapman of Buffet Crampon told 4BR: "We will be providing information on how to approach and access funding bodies as well as provide ancillary services such as effective marketing techniques."

He added: "Through our experience we can offer informed advice on instruments, technical and acoustic considerations and how to obtain those all important spare parts.

"In addition we can work with bands to help arrange brass workshops or concerts with a variety of Besson and Antoine Courtois artists that will enable bands to raise their public profile within their communities as well as with funding bodies."

Free competition service

The Advisory Service will also see Besson provide a free competition service, where at major events they will be on hand to offer urgent repairs and adjustments, technical advice as well as source spare parts.

On hand

The competition service will be on hand at the Lower Section National Finals in Harrogate on the weekend of the 25th/25th September, whilst some of Besson’s world famous artists will also be available at the adjoining Holiday Inn to meet and discuss performance, playing and instrument issues with players and conductors.

High quality

Lyndon is hopeful that the service will provide players, bands and banding bodies with an essential source of high quality information and advice.

"Besson recognizes just how important funding issues are for everyone involved in banding at present – from individual players to bands and representative associations," he said.

"We are there is offer our expertise in a proactive manner, so we will be delighted to help as many people as we can."
