Record entry at Bolsover

There is a record entry of bands for the Bolsover Festival of Brass later this year.

Entries for the Bolsover Entertainment Festival to be held later this year are running at a record high.

Record

The organisers have informed 4BR that 29 bands have already been entered, breaking last year’s record of 24 entrants.

There will be 11 bands in the Championship Section, which will take place at the Post Mill Centre in South Normanton, on Sunday 3rd October.

We have increased capacity for the contest from one venue to two but it is anticipated that even with two venues we will have to bring forward the closing dateCarole Crompton

Entrants

Entrants for the contest are Derwent Brass, Gresley Colliery, Hatfield Colliery, Kibworth, Newstead Brass, Old Silkstone, Vernon Building Society Poynton, Ratby Co-op, Stannington, Thoresby Colliery and United Co-op (Crewe).

The remaining sections of the contest will be held either at the Post Mill Centre or at Pinxton Village Hall.

Increased capacity

With such a good turn out of bands, organiser Carole Crompton commented to 4BR: "We have increased capacity for the contest from one venue to two but it is anticipated that even with two venues we will have to bring forward the closing date."

Carole added: "We are very pleased with the entry so far and would encourage any band seriously considering taking part to get their forms in as quickly as possible to avoid dis-appointment."

If bands require any additional information about the contest, please contact Carole Crompton on carole.hirst@bolsover.gov.uk
