Norwegian composer and composition student Martin Bjørnland has been awarded the 2010 Salford University/Kirklees Composition Award.
Prestigious prize
Martin picked up the prestigious prize for his work, 'Northern Dimensions', written for brass band.
The piece will be performed by the Salford University Band at a special celebration concert in Peel Hall, Salford on Wednesday 5th May, where he will collect his award.
David King
The concert will feature Professor David King as guest soloist, whilst the university band will be conducted by Dr. Howard Evans.
Northern Dimensions will be published by Kirklees Music and be available for purchase within a few weeks.
