The scaba Spring Contest was held in Hove on Sunday, where there were victories to celebrate for Godalming, Shanklin Town Youth, Shanklin Town, Fairlop and Friary Guildford.

Excellent days contesting

Scaba spokesperson Sally Coleman told 4BR: "There wasn’t a particularly large entry this year, but it was still an excellent days playing that seemed to please the ear of the adjudicator, Stan Lippeatt. His only criticism was the choice, by a couple of bands, to play a concert march for their march selection. He also commented that conductor’s had done well with their choice of test piece for their respective bands."

Welcome visitors

scaba were particularly pleased to welcome Braz’art Band from Belgium who were first time visitors to the contest. They played for adjudication only.

The next scaba contest will be the Entertainment Contest in four weeks time at The Hawth in Crawley where both sections are full to capacity.
