Oscar night at Elland

They have been handing out the Oscars at Elland Silver.

Elland Silver Band recently held it's Annual 'Oscars' presentation night at Ripponden Conservative Club.

Envelopes opened

And after the envelopes were opened it was revealed that the 'Most Improved Newcomer' award went to Kevin Johnson on 2nd trombone, whilst the 'Most Improved under 18' category was won by cornet player James Wilkinson.

The 'Most Improved over 18' award was shared between solo horn player David Armitage and solo trombonist Richard Knight, whilst the 'Band Person of the Year' went to Musical Director James Shepherd.

The main 'Player of the Year' award was won by principal cornet Samantha Harrison.

Slaidburn

Elland Youth Band shared the evening to celebrate their win at the recent Action Medical Research competition in Blackpool. A great social evening ended with all joining in an acappella rendition of 'Slaidburn'.
