Former players of the Gwent Youth Band will be welcome at the forthcoming 50th Anniversary Dinner & Dance at the Parkway Hotel on Saturday 17th April

A great night's entertainment is planned as the band continue to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The evening will be black tie and there are still some tickets left. If you are interested then email gwent.music@newport.gov.uk or telephone 01633 414800.

Meanwhile, the current members of the Greater Gwent Schools Band will be spending this weekend in Cwmbran preparing for their first visit to the National Youth Brass Band Championships to be held in Manchester on Sunday 18th April.

The band have entered the Advanced Section and have been working on the test piece, 'Laudate Dominum'.

The band will perform the set work and the own choice works in an end of weekend course concert at County Hall, Cwmbran on Sunday 28th March.
