Cory

The death has been reported to 4BR of Ron Pryce, the former secretary of Cory Band, who passed away on Thursday 11th March.

Familiar face

Ron was a familiar face in the South Wales banding scene for over fifty years, and was remembered as the man who received the National Trophy on behalf of the band when it completed its historic Albert Hall hat trick between 1982 and 1984.

Ron will be a great loss to the band and to the brass band movement in general. He was a great ambassador and true bandsmanDr Robert Childs

Best friend

He was a great family man, and will be sadly missed by his wife Elisabeth (Bet), daughter Pauline, son David and grand-daughter Clare.

Funeral

The funeral takes place at St Georges Church, Cwmparc, Treorchy at 1.15pm on Thursday 18th March.

Members of the Cory Band will be play 'Elegy' from 'A Downland Suite' at the Church and hymns at Cwmparc Cemetery.

Great loss

Dr Robert Childs told 4BR: "Ron will be a great loss to the band and to the brass band movement in general. He was a great ambassador and true bandsman."
