Results: Scottish Borders Entertainment

Newtongrange continues on its winning way at Peebles last weekend.

Newtongrange Silver, conducted by Nigel Boddice MBE, lifted the Scottish Borders Trophy and the £150 first prize at its first attempt at the Borders Entertainment Contest held in Peebles.

Highest place

Last year’s runners-up Shotts St. Patrick’s Band came second again to win £100, with Coalburn Silver in third and St. Ronan’s Silver in fourth position as the highest placed Borders Band.

The music adjudicators were Richard Evans and John Boax, whilst the entertainment judge, Paul Drury, gave his £150 prize to Coalburn Silver.

Youth Section

In the youth section, St. Ronan’s Future Band came out as overall winners with a gold award.

Abbey Brass (Jedforest) and Peebles Junior Band each received silver awards, while Selkirk Juniors and Langholm Juniors received gold awards. This section was adjudicated by Scott Barker.
