Top Classical Award for Bremner

NZ Trombone star wins prestigious Classical CD Award for latest release.

Bremner

David Bremner, the principal trombonist of the NZ Symphony Orchestra, and previously of the San Francisco Symphony, who is guesting with Desford at the National finals this weekend, last week won the Classical CD of the Year from the 44th New Zealand Vodaphone CD of the Year Awards.

Gung Ho

His solo disc entitled 'Gung Ho' features David with the National Band of New Zealand conductor Howard Taylor and the NZ Symphony Orchestra conductor James Judd.

Banding family

David, who comes from New Zealand’s most famous banding families, is conductor of the Wellington Pelorus Band, principal trombone of the NZ National Band on its recent tour of Europe in July, and Director of Education for BANZ the Brass Band Association of New Zealand.

He is the son of Trevor and Betty Bremner — Trevor being many times cornet champion of NZ and Australia and finalist in the British Open solo championships.
