Pontins announce contest details

Details of this year's Pontins Festival — test pieces, prizes and judges have been announced.

The 2009 Pontin’s Brass Band Festival will take place between riday 23rd October and Monday 26th October this year.

Places

Places are still available for bands to enter and celebrate Pontins’ 36th contest anniversary, with over £35,000 in prizes, trophies, travel allowance for resident bands, complete refunds of entry fees in Pontin’s Pounds and free access for non resident bands.

All the test pieces were chosen by James Scott.


Harry & Margaret Mortimer Championship

Further constructive suggestions are welcome and will always be considered.

A feature of this event again is the 'Shopping Street' for Brass Band Traders situated at the rear of one of the contest venues and through which all bands pass during the day.

The traders Exhibition is an essential part of any Brass Band Festival.

Harlow Brass Band

February 27 • We are a friendly, non-contesting band who have the following vacancies:. Trombones, 2nd Horn, Back Row Cornets, Percussion. . We rehearse every Thursday in Harlow, 8-10pm and play at local events throughout the year.


Newmarket Town Band

February 27 • Newmarket Town Band is inviting applications for the post of 'Musical Director'. We are a non-contesting band who play to a high standard with regular bookings throughout the year. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays 7:30 - 9:30pm


Banks Brass Band

February 25 • It's not too late to join Banks Brass Band, a friendly non-contesting band near Southport. All players welcome particularly euphoniums, trombones and basses. Rehearsals: Mondays 8.00-9.30pm in the Hub@Banks community centre, PR9 8BL
