The RNCM Festival of Brass, Artistic Director, Paul Hindmarsh has announced that the 10th anniversary of the death of the great trumpeter and educator Philip Jones will be marked by a series of fanfares next year.
Celebration
In celebration of his distinguished career, a specially composed fanfare of about one minute in length will be performed in the RNCM foyer or Concert Hall as a prelude to each event at the 2010 RNCM Festival of Brass.
Invitions to contribute
Composers are invited to contribute to this unique celebration by submitting new or previously unperformed works for consideration.
This platform is open to any composer 30 or under on the weekend of the Festival, 22th — 24th January 2010.
A minimum of seven and maximum of twelve fanfares will be selected.
Entries should be written for 1 to 3 trumpets and 1 to 3 trombones to a maximum of six parts. Equal consideration will also be given to fanfares written for solo trumpet.

Tribute
The 2010 Festival will also be paying tribute to the work of the Norwegian composer Torstein Aggaard-Nilsen, and will be featuring the work of a number of distinguished composers for brass band from the United States, including Bruce Broughton.
There will also a number of significant premiere performances all performed by the leading brass bands in the land, including Black Dyke, Fodens, Grimethorpe Colliery and Leyland.
Submissions
Three copies of the full score and a complete set of performing material should be submitted, preferably in Sibelius format.
The score and parts should be laid out with the conventional transpositions and clefs and sent, together with a completed application form, to:
