Euphonium virtuoso Steven Mead is recuperating at home following an operation in hospital last weekend.
Fractured disc
For the last 7 weeks of hectic travel Steve has endured the pains of a fractured disc in his neck causing huge pain to the right shoulder and arm.
Premiere
He was determined to go on and performed concerts at the Limoux Brass Festival, France (where he shared top billing with Mnozil Brass), the University of Northern Iowa, Mississauga (Canada) and Croatia (where he premiered a new concerto for euphonium and symphonic brass orchestra).
He also performed with the New York Staff Band in Montclair, New Jersey and just completed a week long tour of Japan, performing three recitals and a concert with the Breeze Brass Band.
Steve told 4BR that he can now resume playing, which is a good job with forthcoming concerts in Italy, Switzerland and Brazil looming in the next three weeks!4BR
100% successful
As soon as he touched down from Japan he was taken into Coventry's Meriden Hospital for the delicate operation which has been 100% successful.

This coming weekend Steve is the adjudicator at the Bugle Brass Band contest.
