Bright future for Beaumaris

There is a bright future in store for the Beaumaris Band if recent events are anythig to go by.

Beaumaris

The Beaumaris Band has had several reasons to celebrate in recent weeks.

Youth success

At the Urdd National Eisteddfod, which is Europe’s biggest youth cultural event, the band had two members of its Youth Band in the prizes in the brass solos.

Pippa Scourse and Sion Whithers took prizes on what was a 3 month journey where competitors must win through regional and county competitions before facing 10 other competitors in the National Final.

Both performed to an extremely high standard tocome runners up at the magnificent Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff which was televised live on S4C4BR

In addition to Pippa and Sion other members were also successful in various solo, duets and ensemble competitions.

Senior Band

Meanwhile, the senior section of the Beaumaris Band have had a fantastic 2009 so far.

Several took part in the North Wales Solo Championships, in February, and returned with many prizes, before gaving a spirited performance at the Welsh Area contest to come 5th. Another 5th place was achieved at the Senior Cup.

Next Year

Over the next few weeks the band are looking forward to the Rhyl Entertainment contest and the National Eisteddfod. Plans for next year are already in place and will include a European tour.
