Diggle village set for Whit debut

The village of Diggle is getting ready for its first appearance on the Whit Friday circuit — and there are plenty of prizes up for grabs.

Diggle Village is holding it's first Saddleworth Whit Friday Quickstep contest on Friday 5th June.

The contest will open at 4.30pm and will close at 10.30pm. The adjudicator for the contest is Duncan Beckley.

Overall Prizes:
1. £600 & Diggle Hotel Shield
2. £400 & Landmark Cup
3. £300 & Diggle Band Club Cup

Section Prizes:
1st/2nd section Band: £150
3rd/4th section Band: £150
Saddleworth band: £150
Youth band £100

Soprano Cornet — £30
Euphonium — £30
Bass Section — £60
Instrumentalist not in Championship Section — £30

Best marching band — £30

The venue provides excellent facilities for bands and supporters, with hot and cold food, toilets, fantastic location, great access both in and out of the village — and somewhere for a pint !

Alder Valley Brass

June 19 • Bb bass player. We are an ambitious, busy and sociable 2nd section band (L&SC, National finalists 2023) with a varied blend of engagements, concerts and contests. We rehearse 8-10pm Mondays and Thursdays in Farnham, Surrey. Other enquiries welcome.


Chinnor Silver

June 17 • Our COMMUNITY BAND meet again on Monday (22nd) and we welcome players of all standards to join us for a relaxed,friendly rehearsal with Tea and cake and it’s all free.. Rehearsals are at 11am in our own bandroom playing with us does not effect your band.

June 16 • Longridge Band invite applications for the positions of Flugel and Eb Bass.. We are a friendly and committed band that enjoys a great balance of concerts and contests throughout the year. A contribution to travel expenses are provided.
