The 83rd Holme Valley Brass Band Contest weekend started on Friday evening when two of the competing bands held open rehersals.
Concert
Hepworth Cookson Homes gave the Saturday night concert in the Civic Hall Holmfirth, with Jonathan Bates, solo horn of the National Youth Band of Great Britain as their guest soloist. A most enjoyable concert was appreciated by the large audience.
Contest
The contest followed on Sunday afternoon commencing at 12 noon with Section B and Section A bands later in the day.
