Bestwood Black Diamonds Band is celebrating after a set of exceptional results at Leicestershire Brass Band Association Solo, Duet and Quartet contest at Groby on the weekend.
Fine day
Band manager Richard Greenwood told 4BR: "The band's fine day started with Luke Timson winning the Open Percussion Section, followed by Smain Mokrane and Aisha Mokrane coming 2nd and 3rd in the B section of the contest. Smain also came 4th in Junior Air Varie and joined up with Aisha to come 4th in the open duet section."
Performances
He added: "Other fine performances came from Samantha Northridge who came 10th in the B section of the contest out of a field of 29 players, whilst there was a fine day for two junior hymn quartets who came 5th and 7th respectively.
"There were also fine results for Alan Needham and Sue Woolley who came joint 7th in the open Slow Melody section."
