The AGM of the British Federation of Brass Bands has revealed a further drop in membership for the organization, but an increase in funds.
Drop and increase
Although Chairman Robert Morgan revealed that there has been a drop in member bands of around 30 to 230 in the past year, the increase in membership fees from £65 to £100 per year had resulted in an increase in income, with membership holding up well.
Busy and profitable
Although the BFBB Contesting arm had suffered a small loss during the past year, the Registry continued to be both very busy and profitable.

Legacy
In addition, the BFBB will shortly receive a legacy from the will of the late Norman Jones, the former BFBB Secretary of around £56,000 to set up a trust fund.
Work
BFBB funds now stand around £47,000, and with the more robust finances there were hopes that further initiatives could be undertaken to help support the BFBB Development Officer in increasing the potential membership base of the organization, following his work in Cumbria and the South West during the past year.
Payment
It was also revealed that the BFBB would try and bring in a variety of methods by which potential member bands can pay their £100 a year fee, such by standing order and direct debit.
